Rhys Larson: The Irresistible Bodyguard in Twisted Games | Man Crush Monday

We all know in the romance genre there are a bunch of amazing fictional hotties. Every Monday I’m going to bring one of my favorite fictional men out into the spotlight so you all can enjoy as well. Who knows maybe you will find your next fictional husband or eye candy. More eye candy never hurt nobody especially when it comes to men to fantasize. This book I’m going to mention is a 50/50 all over booktok. Some love it some hate it. Unpopular opinion, I love it and am so obsessed with it I’ve read it 3 times. It’s Twisted Games By Ana Huang.

For those of you lovely Bookworms that haven’t read Twisted Games it’s book 2 in the 4 book series by Ana Huang. All books are standalones but they are interconnected standalones. So the characters in the first book are also in the second book but the second book is it’s own story. I haven’t read the other 2 books yet in the series but so far between the first Twisted love and the second Twisted Games I prefer Twisted Games. Especially when it comes to the men. Which brings me to this weeks Man Crush Monday: Rhys Larson.

Rhys Larson is a 6’5 tatted up bodyguard for Princess Bridget of Eldorra. Man oh man is Rhys chiseled to the gods, I mean God spent some time on that one. I’ll put some images of what he would’ve looked like if he wee real. He was also a navy seal. So far we got hot. Check. Tall. Super check. A career. Check. It’s giving 10 out of 10. He’s more than meets the eye. With a troubled past he can help Bridget in other ways because he understands.

Aside from his physically and the main reason Rhys Larson is our first Man Crush Monday is the way he treats Bridget in the book. Larson not only listened to Bridget, he indulges her every desire. Even though he was her bodyguard he protected and cared for her in other ways. He made her feel peace in a world full of chaos. He inspired her, brought out the best in her by believing in her and supporting her when she was forced to become queen. He saw the strong woman she was and helped bring that out to the surface. However even though she was strong she didn’t have to be strong with him because he was there for her to help her with that heavy weight on her shoulders. He protects her without hesitation. Not only does he put her needs above his own but he will do anything for her. Even if that means she needs to be protected from herself.

For me personally the hottest is the “touch her and you die” trope. This book is riddled with that and I’m here for it. Like a man that’s protective over his girl is just chefs kiss. For example here are a few of Rhys’s quotes from the book:

I want to make one thing clear. From this point on you’re mine. No other man touches you and if they do…I know seventy-nine ways to kill a man and I can make seventy of them look like an accident. Understand?

You and me against the world princess

I came back despite knowing the torture I’d have to go through because I can’t stay away from you. Even when you’re not there, you’re everywhere. In my head, in my lungs, in my fucking soul. And I’m trying very hard not to lose my shit right now, sweetheart, because all I want is to cut off that fucker’s head and serve it on a platter for daring to touch you.

I can’t put anymore quotes or I’ll spoil the good stuff. And NO ONE I mean no one likes a Spolier.

Isn’t that what every person desires though? To be seen and heard by your significant other. To feel desired. To get inspired by them to become a better version of yourself. To feel safe, protected and loved. That no matter what that one person always has your back. They love every version of you the good the bad and the ugly. They wouldn’t let anybody hurt you. Everything you think is bad about yourself is the things they love about you the most. I think honestly that’s why most girls read romances like these. I think it’s kind of sad that women these days aren’t used to guys like Rhys Larson. Those men, real men, gentlemen are quite a rarity these days unfortunately. Listen I’ll tell ya for me that’s the dream. I’m so grateful to be one of the lucky ones because I actually have a man like that aka my future husband.

If you liked watching Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement growing up then you would love this book and I would strongly recommend reading it. It’s giving adult Princess Diaries with extra spice. This has been one of my top 5 star reads of last year.

Thank you for joining us for our first Man Crush Monday! We hope you enjoyed meeting our featured book boyfriend and look forward to getting to know him more in Twisted games. I promise he won’t disappoint. Don’t forget to share your favorite literary heartthrob in the comments below. Stay tuned for next week’s swoon-worthy spotlight! Happy Reading!
